    Hey Tom, nice footage! I've been rowing for 3 years now and I currently have the wish to get a tattoo of the vortex that is left behind in the water right after finishing a stroke. In order to get a design made I'm looking for some good images of these vortexes but it's been hard for me to get my hands on them. I was wondering if you have any that you would be willing to share with me. This video is amazing but unfortunately the quality is insufficient on youtube to clearly make out the vortexes. It'd be awesome if you could share a high res version with me, or maybe you have some other clear stills that would work. I would really apreciate it. Thanks in advances and kind regards, Marijn

    Considering that drone has no gimbal or collision avoidance, it's very impressive footage. I've been using my Mavic 2 Pro for the same purpose further up the Thames; so inspired by this, I think I'll have to take my single over to Henley v.early one morning and do the same.

    Hi Tom, excellent video of your race. Can you let me know what program you used for the distance /heart rate etc, it looks great. I would like to adopt the same program if possible. By the way your video shows a shorter distance for the HOCR as they say its 4,8kms, best regards, Bill

    Nice video. I don't think there is anything quite like that in Texas. My style of rowing is more recreational. I have to have room to carry the beer, and seats for at least one passenger. My rowing skiff is a Heritage 18 from Little River Marine in Gainesville Florida. ua-cam.com/video/_kYV6uOAVs8/v-deo.html

      @@stelph82 Bit disappointed - expected to see someone called Jake paddling with squared blades...😉 But seriously, great videos, only recently came across them. Watching both this and the one with music from Interstellar, helped me to get through Lockdown when outings from my rowing club weren't permitted.

  • @mattevans6446

    Cool shots, hopefully it'll translate to some good race or training footage this year. Wondered if I could ask something related to some of your older videos. At the Henley Sculls in 2011 you were using an active tools rate meter and seemed pleased with it in the comments, more recent videos show what I think is an NK one. My club's looking at getting a few stroke coaches for communal use and had considered the active tools ones but heard that they may break easily/have a short lifespan. Is that a problem you encountered? Is that the reason behind the switch?

    • @stelph82
      @stelph82 7 років тому

      Sorry I hadn't noticed this before! No it's nothing to do with reliability of the active tools product, it's actually remarkably reliable (mine went through the wash at least twice by accident and was still working) I switched to an NK as I needed to have the impeller input which the active tools product sadly doesn't have at the moment

    2:08 at 18 spm? what? Xeno Muller in his day could amble along at at that pace at 20 spm. No problem for me either, but I need 33 spm :(

    • @stelph82
      @stelph82 8 років тому

    Sculler. In the later frames of this video, is that a torpedo following the sculler? Credit where it's due, shows excellent stamina at a rate of 30 spm. Wonder why nobody has produced a video like this for the enjoyment of us dry-land rowers to watch while toiling away on our Concepts.

    • @davidhoward7400

      +Seth van Wieringen Well being a bowloader the cox cant see the catches of the whole boat, so I assume he only makes technical calls.

    Having being a stroke for many years,i would have told the cox to shut the F*** up ,if the crew are any good they should know how the boat is going,and reminding the crew of keeping the power on.

    How you run the GPS tracks. (Active GPX?) I'm trying to find a way to show the player's track behind, not the whole of it loaded initially. Thanks!

    Very nice vid. I notice you favour a fair degree of blade depth in your strokes. The blades are nicely buried and not rowed in before the legs kick with no appreciable pause between drop and kick. No wonder you have such good speed.
